I am using the latest version of Log4View, but the performance is really bad. I am trying to load 15 log files (.log, log.1, ... .log.15) with a total size of 150 MB. It's taking ages and hanging at around 80-90% of the progress bar. The files are in XML layout and are loaded from a local SSD on a quite new ThinkPad running Windows 7 with 8GB of RAM. In fact, the files could not be opened yet while I am writing this post. So I assume that it's not working at all.
Any help will be appreciated. |

Hi Martin, I just tried it on my machine: ThinkPad T520, 2 years old. I read 15 XML formatted log files (100 MB each) and it took 160 seconds. Log4View read over 2.100.000 log messages in that time. I think, this performance is OK. Can you give me some numbers (load time and number of log messages)? Hi Ulrich,
it's not working at all. It has been loading for over an hour now, but no progress. See for yourself: http://tinypic.com/r/2hge8nt/6 The files are 10 MB each. The most recent one is only around 8 MB. There are around 23k messages in the log.1 file, the other counts are varying in a range from 18k. Is there a log file of Log4View itself that I could check? Thanks for your help. Regards, Martin |

Hi Martin, yes, there is a log file: "%AppData%\Log4View\Log4View.xlog". You can send it to me and I will have a look. Ulrich Von: Martin Klinke [via Log4View Support] [mailto:ml-node+[hidden email]]
