TCP Server not available from other computers

anjdreas
I am NOT able to connect to Log4View TCP Server over the Internet.
I am NOT able to connect on the same LAN.
I am able to connect on the same PC.
I am able to connect to another TCP server (different software) over the Internet on the same port, so my port forwarding and firewall is OK.

Log4View and PC setup:
* Version: 12.6.3.163
* Logger: TCP Server on port 878
* PC has local IP 192.168.1.3, given by router, and router is available on IP x.x.x.x
* Only a single network adapter in Windows
* Port forwarding in router enabled
* Firewall exception for port TCP 878 added

Solution:
It seems Log4View binds to localhost:port, but it should instead bind to that same port on all available network adapters.

Note:
I can edit the Host on the logger if I first select UDP or TCP Client logger, then type in 192.168.1.3 instead of localhost, then select TCP Server, which greys out the Host text box. At this point I can no longer connect to neither localhost nor 192.168.1.3 from the same PC, so changing this has an effect but it still doesn't let me connect remotely. There is clearly something wrong with the TCP listener preventing me from accepting remote connections.

Please advice if this should be working, or if this is a bug you need to fix.

Thanks!

Dear Anjdreas,

thank you very much for detailed information. We tried to recreate the problem you encounter, yet we can use the TCP client mode via network as well as via internet.

Could you connect within your local network and try the following:
- deactivate the firewall completely on both the sending as well on the receiving machine
- open and start the test log emitter located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Log4View\LogEmiter on the sending machine
- in Log4View on the receiving machine connect using TCP client with the sending machine's IP address and port 877

If there is still no connection possible, please send us your Log4View.xlog logfile located at C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Log4View by mail.

In TCP server mode used by nlog the host is disabled as the machine running Log4View becomes the server itself, whereas the logging machines connect as clients. Thus the IP of the machine running Log4View must be specified in the config file of the logging programs.

Sorry, I don't intend to follow up on this ticket. I have an alternative software that is working for me now.

Thanks
